Advice for mother’s ring! And where can I get a mother’s ring?
My husband is the only child. He wants to get his mom a mother’s ring. What birthstones would you use? He wants to do his mom’s in the middle and HIS and HIS dad’s on side!OR I said to do Mine and HIS on side of hers. Because I am close to her and I am like a daughter to her. OR I have 3 kids so do the grandkids birthstones. WHICH ONE DO YOU LIKE BETTER? Or which way is the approiate way for a mother’s ring? How many birthstones can you use in mother’s ring?

We bought our grandmother a mother’s ring and had all the grandkid’s birthstones in it. She absolutely loved it.
But another idea would be having your husband’s birthstone in the center and then his moms and dads on each side.

Blue topaz @ Walmart?
I was looking at jewelry at Walmart today to kill some time and noticed that they didn’t have a single blue topaz item. Blue topaz is my birthstone(December), so I asked if they were sold out. The clerk informed me that they had to remove all their blue topaz jewelry to the safe in September and are unable to sell it until some legal matters have been resolved. Anyone have any idea what’s going on there???
There is a government agency that has to monitor the trade of all irradiated gemstones to check the level of radioactivity, until now, they never regulated the trade of irradiated blue topaz. Recently this government organization called a halt to the import/export of all irradiated blue topaz (which makes up about 99% of all blue topaz) until they could test the levels of radiation. However, I did recently discover some major suppliers to the industry can now sell blue topaz (only vendors who work w/ jewelers i.e. where I work). Walmart should catch up w/ the rest of the industry soon and replenish it’s supply. It was very difficult for us to get any blue topaz at work for clients…Actually it was impossible. Hope this answers your question!

Is there any traditions about jewelry or gemstones for mourning?
So this may sound lame but i lost a child mid-term almost 6 years to the day while his sister continued to grow and is now a healthy 5 Year old. I also have a 10 year old. I still sometimes especially this time of year have a hard time with this loss. So i was thinking of having a ring made up with both my living children’s birthstones and one for my son and maybe somehow this will help me to remember the loss but not be so sad. I do not know of any traditions but was wondering if there’s one about mourning, a certain stone or something. Or maybe a stone that is helpful to heal from this type of thing. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

Is it tacky to use jewels from a gift someone else gave you to make something new?
When my ex and I were first engaged he used the stone from a wedding ring set he’d bought for a former girlfriend to have a necklace made for me for a wedding present. Over the years he also bought me jewelry with my birthstone in it. I never wear that stuff because I never have the occasion to and I hardly wear jewelry. Would it be bad to use those stones to make my new wedding and engagement rings? At least they would get used and it would cut the cost of the new rings.
The ring that the diamond came from was another woman’s engagement ring. In fact he had sold that set to someone then wanted it back when he met me thinking I would wear it instead. I told him he was insane if he thought I’d wear someone else’s ring. So he had the diamond set in a necklace for me for our wedding. We later married and recently split after 30 years. I have all the rings from that relationship because he left them with me.
Sure. That would be some practical usage.

alright me and her have been dating for over a year now and last christmas i got her some jewelry. and i need ideas of gifts to give her i cant get her a puppy cuz she already has plenty of them . i was thinking about getting her a promise ring that has our names on it and birthstones on it ill be 18 in december and she will be 17 in january and so i was wondering should i get her that or get her somthing else and wait till shes 18 and just get her an engagement ring.Any other gifts ideas whud be great
