should we buy an engagement ring at walmart?

It has some positive and some negate reviews. main concern is that some stones may fall out and that it may start to turn yellow. However I’ve heard about this from other actual jewelry stores before as well. So i don’t know weather to let that stop me from purchasing it or not. But i do love the ring. i always have preferred princess cut but i fell in love with this one. We are on a tight budget however we can afford to spend more and buy somewhere else like zales. But there isn’t any that look like this for under $1000 anywhere else. any advise? Have you ever purchased a ring at walmart before?
I agree with Garnet Glitter. Some cheap places will make the ring literally out of yellow gold and just dip it/plate it in white gold or rhodium, so when it wears away the yellow is very noticeable. Based on the reviewers complaints about “tarnishing” this is what has been done with this ring. I have a feeling the positive reviewers might have run into problems down the line. A well-made white gold ring will have the gold underneath alloyed with nickel so that it is actually white (although not as bright as the plating of rhodium, which is too expensive to make a whole ring out of). I am also concerned with the complaints about stones falling out– a jeweler will charge about $20 to $30 plus cost of stone to replace it. So I would make sure if you ordered it to have it immediately inspected and that there is a good return policy.
I bought my ring on consignment from a local jeweler and it was a great deal. Also I bought fi’s ring off of overstock.com, it was literally half the price and exactly the same as a ring he liked at Zales.

Is there any demand for handmade jewllery and crafts?
I live in the country with 4 children and they have inspired me through some of their own ideas whilst drawing or my eldest making jewellery, I thought of having a small shed like cabin in the garden which I could sell jewllery and hand painted post cards,hanging mobiles painted stones etc, I am artistic and painting is my strong point, the idea came to me when my neighbour had forgot to buy a birthday present and her sister was coming round that day so she got the kids to paint a stone and put her name on it. Do you think it would be worth it? as i’m not sure of the demand for this stuff as supermarkets sell everything.
Worth it?… In what way? Monetarily? I can’t answer that as I have not seen your wares.. If you make something of high quality and value and something that is unique and different then I would say Probably… But making money with handmade goods is a long hard road. be prepared to put alot of effort and time into it. Making post cards and jewelry will not be your only job unless you hire people to make a website or list your items online or sell your things at craft fairs, or do the leg work to sell to consignment shops, etc etc… This has to be more than a hobby to be profitable.
If you already have a sufficient source of income and are making and selling things as a creative outlet.. then YES! its totally worth it! Etsy and Ebay are great places to start.. but I like Artfire because its free to list.. no insertion fees or percentages taken out…
As to the demand for such things…. do a keyword search… find out exactly how many people are searching for “handmade postcards”, “handmade jewelry”, “painted stones” etc… Find a niche that people are searching for but doesn’t come up with a lot of web pages devoted to that niche..

MUCH NEEDED HELP: Looking for a certain designer/collection diamond engagement rings!?
Hello everyone,
I have been busting my brains to find this certain engagement ring. I saw it in a jewelry store a few months ago, but the store is in another state and I can’t find any place around me that carries it. I don’t know if the designer of the rings is called Belle A’more or if its from a different designer and Belle A’more is just the collection of the rings. I know the style number was either 86 or 88. It was a beautiful round center stone, with tiny 4 marquise on each side of the center stone in the shape of a X then small accent diamonds in the white gold band. It was absolutely exquisite and it has been on my mind ever since I have seen it. I truly believe it is my ring and I just need to see it again… so I was wondering if anyone knows if they have a website with pictures or something! I have already checked online and ebay, but no luck. So I have a feeling that belle a’more is a collection and not the specific designer. I appreciate everyone’s help. Thank you~
I’d go to a jeweler in the mall and ask them…someone who knows the diamond business and/or someone who might have a catalog they can look through WITH you or for you. Maybe if you find a name of the designer you can find them in a store closer to you…and or find them online in that store… I would def ask someone in a jewelry store at the mall or in your own town, describe it and maybe they know who the designer is.

Selling designer fashion jewelry to stores/buyers?
Hi, I know someone who is a great designer, she makes her jewrely from semi-precious stones, and she has great taste. Shes selling them just by word of mouth, or ebay, but she really would like to sell to well known stores, how should she start? Where should she start? How to contact store buyers, what stores? if i were her i would just go by different stores in the mall and drop off her business cards. see if they will let her put some cards on thier counters. that way customers would see them and possibly call her. who knows, the store she puts them in might even call her about buying some of her merchandise. i used to work at an athletic store and we did it for sports retailers all the time. good luck.

Resin jewelry. Does anyone know of a clear plastic that you can embed a stone or other object in. It should?
be very clear so the object will be visible. It should be hard and not easily damaged. Ideally it should not be easily flammable. I would like for it to be able to survive direct flame for a short period, a few seconds. It could be discolored and misshapen by the experience as long as it continues to exist. There should be some chemical solvent that will melt it even though it is not vulnerable to heat. Any suggestions?

I am 16 years old and I am thinking of getting my nose pierced. I know what I want. I want a small gem for the jewelry. I don’t want no hoop, nothing big, just a small little stone. lol.
Though how much do you think it will cost? I live in Ontario, Canada near London ON. Does anyone have a good place to get a piercing? How much will it cost me? Is there anything I should know before going a head and doing this?

Well, I just got my nose ierced 3 days ago, and it was $54 dollars, my other facial piercings were also in the $55 range, so expect to pay about that. I’m not sure about anywhere around there, just don’t go anywhere that lookes empty alot of the time, go somewhere that alot of people go to. It takes 3 to 6 months to heal, and it hurts, but, its been 3 days since I got it, and the pain is going away.

I like to think I’m an artist *giggles*
I paint, draw and create through various other mediums.
I write and have had some of my work published. I even distributed my own series of graphic novel through out Jr. and Sr. High school. I even took a basic art course in college for S#!Ts and giggles.
But what is the realistic application of these skills out there in the real world? I’m working on continuing my post secondary education to include graphic design but I’m not even sure that’s a field I’m interested in.
I’m just old fashioned. My camera is older than I am. I think paint should be applied to a canvas, not installed and fiddled with on your computer. I love making random and beautiful things like carved stones, walking sticks, shell jewelry and cute little arrangements like framed pictures with flowers and flow…my bookshelf looks like a show case!
What is there for me and how do I find that sort of work ‼?‼?

DIY (Do It Yourself) Snakebites?
Okay, well, I want snakebites.
I am aware of all the risks of DIY piercings, but I am not going to be one of those stupid people who do it just to “fit in” or for any other superficial reason. Nor will I be one of those people who do not have any regard for taking the necessary steps to ensure a successful DIY piercing.
Preferably a professional piercer is welcome to answer this. What I need to know is ALL the steps.
Sterilization (what to sterilize with and what not to sterilize with.)
Jewellery options (what material is best?)
Tools and Equipment (What do I need?)
Where to buy these tools (I live in Toronto).
etc, and anything else that might be helpful.
Oh, and this is not set in stone, but I would still like to know about DIY piercings and everything that I’ve asked. I might go to a professional piercer.
To sterilize: Buy an autoclave, they’re only a few grand. Lighting a match & holding it over a needle may clean it (as will soap and water), but it won’t sterilize it.
Titanium is the best, in my opinion.
You need clamps, a hollow needle a gauge larger than the size you want to be pierced at, jewelery, a special marker to mark the area, gloves, and an apprenticeship under a professional. www.tribalectic.com has some kits.
